It's About Time for an Update

OK...once every six months seems like a good schedule to update my blog. It had been so long since I have been to the website it took me several tries to remember how to log in. But, I am here so here goes.

School was out for teachers on May 31st. On June 1st we headed to Evansville to attend my niece's rehearsal dinner and the wedding on June 2nd. Everything was really nice. The rehearsal dinner had yummy food and beverages and we enjoyed meeting the groom's family. The wedding was very pretty. It was outdoors. The weather had been very warm, but the afternoon was overcast so it was not too hot at 6:15 p.m. After the wedding and the photo sessions, when everyone had gone indoors for the reception the rain came.

On June 3rd, Clare, Joel, David and I headed to Chicago. We stayed at Clare's for a few days and acted like tourist. On Monday we ate at Grand Lux for lunch. It was great. Then we went to the bar on the 96th floor of the John Hancock building.

We have learned that instead of paying to ride the elevator to the observation level, you should take the free elevator to the 96th floor and for about the same cost as the observation elevator you can sit and enjoy a "beverage" and see all of Chicago. Even the ladies restroom has a wonderful view. Imagine my surprise when I looked out the restroom window and saw a spider in it's web! How in the world did a spider get to the 96th floor and what does it eat there?

Monday evening we went to the Uberstein, they have Hofbrau beer on draft and serve lots of German food. The beer is served in liter size mugs! David, Joel and Clare enjoyed the beer...I had a glass of wine. It was a fun place and I think it was the cleanest bar I have ever been to.

We "pigged out" at Fogo de Chao" on Tuesday evening. The salad/cold food bar is amazing, but the meat that the gauchos bring around is delicious. What a fun place to enjoy a nice dinner!
From Chicago we drove to Metropolis, IL and spent the night at the new hotel at Harrah's Casino. The hotel was beautiful and the people working there were all extra friendly. In addition I found a penny slot machine that allowed me to win!

The next day we went to Hopkinsville so David could play in a golf tournament with his buddy Chip. They won the tourament last year so they needed to defend their title. This year they didn't get into the championship flight, but they did win the first flight!

We arrived at home (Florida) last week and have settled into our summer routine. We are walking our section of the beach checking for sea turtle nests...we have three already. And we are delivering Meals on Wheels on Thursdays. Several of the clients have passed away since last summer and we have several new ones. We are finding the route takes longer now because we stop to chat with everyone.

My "Summer To Do List" includes"

Holy Cow! An update!!! Good job, you can cross one thing off your list! :) You left off playing with grandchildren on the beach and at the pool. See you soon!

That's quite a to-do list you have there! I think you can cross off the email, too - since I got one yesterday. Also, you've been turtling, so that's a check as well.
